Overview / Objectives
- Created by Microsoft in 2003, Imagine Cup is the biggest student technological competition worldwide - a springboard towards future IT innovations
- This event’s objective is to put forward entrepreneurial ideas and raise the students’ awareness about a current issue: the Environment
- The organization of this competition has to be in line with its topic: “Imagine a world where new technologies contribute to the environmental improvement”
Strategy / Solution
- The event’s communication was done only via internet, in order to limit printing, sorting and mailing
- Combining competition, discovery and exchange, everything was recycled or recyclable (access badges, invitations, reusable dishes)
- The furniture as well as the set were rented in order to reduce the waste
Results
- 200.000 subscriptions to participate in this competition
- 1.000 people in Paris among whom 400 students representing the best contestants from 90 nations
- 9 different categories: software conception, embedded systems, video games and also photography, short films, etc.
- More than 150 media were represented on the website to cover this large event
- The whole event was conceived to reduce impacts on the environment
